Coaching Cost

What founder coaching costs

You should know what coaching costs before you book a call.

Here's what I charge, what's included, and what to ask when you're comparing coaches.

How much does founder coaching cost with me?

My coaching costs $3,000 to $6,000 a month. The rate depends on how often we meet, from two to four sessions a month, and session length, from 60 to 90 minutes.

Coaching is month to month, with no minimum term or upfront payment. You can stop any month.

Rates are on a sliding scale, and I keep a few reduced-rate spots. We talk about your situation and the rate on the first call.

A cofounder pair pays one fee. We agree on who joins which sessions, how often we meet, and for how long.

What affects the price of coaching?

When you're comparing coaches, look at what the fee actually covers:

  • Sessions. How often do we meet, and for how long?
  • Access between sessions. Can I reach you before a hard meeting, or only at the next session?
  • Experience. Who will I work with, and what relevant experience do they bring?
  • Scope. What does the fee include: one coach or a wider program?
  • Commitment. Is there a minimum term or an upfront payment?
  • Reviews. How do we review whether it's working?
  • Stopping. How do I stop?

A similar monthly fee can cover very different things.

What's included

A free first conversation. We talk for 30 minutes about your situation and whether I'm the right fit.

A longer intake. We get to know your company and the people in it, then agree on two or three priorities for our work.

Regular sessions. Two to four a month, 60 to 90 minutes each. In person in New York, or remotely anywhere.

Context that carries over. I remember what you said about your cofounder last quarter and notice when the story changes, so we don't spend the start of every session re-explaining the company.

Help between sessions. You can reach me about a tough message, a board call, or something you need to think through before we meet.

Reviews. Every few months, we look at what's changed and what still needs work.

Cofounders together. Sessions can be individual or joint, depending on what you both need. A cofounder pair pays one fee.

Your coach. Three-time founder, ICF PCC, coaching founders since 2018. More about me.

How coaches structure their fees

You'll see fees quoted per session, as a package, or as a monthly retainer. The table below sets out what to ask about each.

Pricing model Per session Package Monthly retainer
How it's priced A fee for each meeting A set number of sessions or months, paid as a block A flat fee each month
What you're buying The hour A defined stretch of work An ongoing relationship, usually with some access between sessions
Fits when You want occasional help on one question You have one clear goal and a timeline The job keeps changing and the hard moments don't wait for a scheduled session
Ask about Whether the coach carries context from one session to the next What happens if it isn't working halfway through Cadence, what's included between sessions, and how you stop

I use a monthly retainer so we can keep working as your situation changes.

Is it worth it?

Clients' companies have raised $3.9 billion, seven have reached unicorn valuations, and six have been acquired since 2024, as of October 2026. Engagements have run from six months to five years. Read what clients say changed.

In our first session, we agree on a measurable goal for session six and use it to assess whether the coaching is working.

Can the company pay?

Most clients expense coaching to the company. If you need to explain the cost to your board, I can help you describe what you're working on and why.
